HOT WIRE    ANEMOMETRY

· Single and X hot wire probes.

- diameter 5 µm and 2,5 mm.

- length 1,2 mm and 0,5 mm.

· Direct numerical acquisition (100 KHz)

· Velocity and temperature computer contolled

· Conditional analysis.

- intermittency factor.

- conditional moments.

· Statistical analysis.

-  Moments up to the 4 th order,

- Correlations up to the 3 rd order,

- Turbulent kinetic energy balance.

· Spectral analysis.

- one dimensional spectra for the three velocity components,

- computation of   e by integration of the dissipation spectrum.

Thanks to the size of the facility the near wall region can be well captured

flatness.GIF (3043 octets) Flatness factor

The behaviour is nearly Gaussian in 60% of the boundary layer. Outside, the intermittency induces a deviation. Very near the wall, the probe size is a source of error.

Both the universal region (slope -5/3) and the production region (slope -1) are put to evidence
